Insemination med partners spermier Insemination treatment (IUI) with partner´s sperm
Livio can assist with insemination using the man's sperm if the couple has unexplained infertility, if the man has a slightly reduced sperm sample, or if the man has ejaculation problems.
What is Insemination Treatment (IUI) with partner's sperm
Insemination can be performed in a natural menstrual cycle or combined with treatment that stimulates ovulation. The man's sperm sample is prepared and inserted into the uterus with a thin plastic catheter in connection with the woman's ovulation. In couples where the man has a normal or nearly normal sperm sample, insemination is usually only done if the woman is younger than 36-37 years old. The older the woman is, the less frequently eggs of good quality are produced, which means it can take a long time before a pregnancy occurs. Overall, IVF is a much more effective treatment than insemination, and the difference becomes greater the older the woman is.
Who is it for?
Insemination with partner's sperm (AIH) is today recommended almost exclusively if the couple has difficulty performing intercourse.

What are the benefits of Insemination (IUI) with partner's sperm?
Insemination with partner's sperm offers a less invasive and more cost-effective treatment compared to a more complex treatment like IVF. By carefully preparing and optimizing the sperm sample, couples can improve their chances of fertilization while addressing mild fertility issues. Insemination is a good option for those experiencing mild reproductive difficulties without involving extensive medical treatment.
Your Insemination (IUI) with partner's sperm Journey: step-by-step
Fertility investigation
A fertility investigation of the person wishing to carry the pregnancy must be done before treatment. The investigation includes a doctor's visit with medical history, gynecological examination with ultrasound, testing (hormones and infection screening), and examination of the fallopian tubes. An individual medical assessment is always made. Here we will also assess if there is a need for mild hormonal stimulation of ovulation or if the treatment should proceed unstimulated.
Treatment start:
For insemination, the treatment time depends on how the body reacts to hormones or when ovulation occurs. In an unstimulated cycle, we ask you to contact us during menstruation for instructions on ovulation testing.
Insemination day:
Both partners are present, and if sperm has not been provided at an earlier time and frozen, sperm is now provided in a private room at the clinic. The sperm sample is then prepared for insemination. For best results, the man should have ejaculated between two and four days before the sample collection.
The partner who will carry the pregnancy is then inseminated. A thin catheter is inserted into the uterus, and the prepared sperm is injected into the uterus and spreads to the fallopian tubes. The treatment is not painful.
Afterwards
Just over two weeks after the insemination, it's time to take a pregnancy test. Even if a small bleeding occurs, the pregnancy test can be positive. If the pregnancy test is positive, you will get an appointment for an ultrasound examination a few weeks later to confirm that the pregnancy is normal. If the pregnancy test is negative, we plan for continued treatment if you wish.
What you can expect from Insemination (IUI) with partner's sperm
Insemination with partner's sperm is a simpler and more cost-effective method than IVF for couples with mild fertility problems. By preparing the sperm sample, the chances of fertilization are increased. The method provides better control over the timing of fertilization and can reduce stress for the couple. It is a good alternative for couples with less severe fertility issues that do not require more extensive treatments. The chances of pregnancy are approximately 15% per insemination cycle.

The partner provides a fresh sperm sample at the clinic on the day of insemination. The sample is then "washed" in the laboratory to select the healthiest and most motile sperm, increasing the chances of fertilization.
The insemination is typically performed around the time of ovulation to maximize the chances of pregnancy. Ovulation can be tracked using ovulation predictor kits or monitored by the clinic through ultrasound and hormone tests.
The chances of pregnancy are approximately 15% per insemination cycle5. Success rates can vary depending on factors such as the woman's age, the quality of the sperm sample, and any underlying fertility issues.
