Assisted reproduction
Assisted reproduction is the collective name for fertilization methods taking place partly outside of the body. The most common examples of assisted reproduction is IVF (either with own eggs and sperm, or with donor eggs and donor sperm) and insemination either by partner´s sperm or donor sperm.
Donor treatments or partner insemination)
Insemination may be an appropriate treatment for unexplained infertility or if the couple struggles with completing intercourse. The woman usually undergoes hormone stimulation to optimize ovulation. The man’s sperm is prepared and inserted into the womb with a thin plastic catheter.
If the insemination treatment should turn out unsuccesful, IVF treatment is a possible next step.
