Sperm Bank Livio
Apply to become a sperm donor!
Applying to become a donor is very easy! Answer three short questions that determine whether you can proceed in the process and fill out a more detailed health declaration which is then sent to us digitally.
Free health check
One advantage of becoming a sperm donor is that you receive a thorough health check, which means that in addition to a general medical examination, you are tested for infectious diseases and the most common hereditary genetic diseases. A sperm analysis is also performed, and you then receive an estimate of your reproductive ability. All of this is completely free of charge.

How We Choose Sperm Donors
It is important that all donors are healthy. That is why we conduct a thorough health examination and basic screening of all our donors – before they are approved. This screening consists of interviews, infectious disease tests, genetic tests and a medical examination as well as a sperm sample.
If you have any questions, you are welcome to contact us via Ask us or by phone at 076-941 74 00 on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00.
Sperm Donation Frequently Asked Questions
First, fill out our application form. We'll contact you to discuss the process and schedule a sperm analysis. If sperm count and motility are approved, the next steps are a medical examination, urine and blood tests to rule out infections, and a genetic evaluation. Read more here. Once approved, you become a Livio sperm donor, and we plan the donation process together. We prefer our donors to donate multiple times.
Your information is only stored at Livio Egg and Sperm Bank. You'll be anonymous to prospective parents, but Swedish law allows donor-conceived children to learn their genetic origin at a mature age. This means the child may contact you in the future. Livio will always contact you first in such cases to prepare you. Read more here.
No, your identity is encrypted and protected by Livio Egg and Sperm Bank. There won't be any record of your donor status in your regular medical journal or elsewhere.
At least 48 hours but no more than 72 hours should pass since your last ejaculation. We prefer our donors to donate multiple times.
As a sperm donor, it's desirable to donate at least 4 times per month, but this isn't mandatory.
You're financially compensated for each donation, but by Swedish law, donation must be altruistic. This means you donate voluntarily to help others, without financial gain. The compensation covers travel time and potential lost income for clinic visits.
Swedish law allows a sperm donor to father children in up to 6 families. Donors can also choose to have their sperm used abroad, mainly in our sister clinics in Norway and Iceland, or other European fertility clinics. Although donors choose whether to donate only in Sweden or other countries, Livio limits the total number of families per donor to 25 across all countries. Donors certify they never donate privately or at other clinics/tissue establishments.
Fill out the application here, and we'll contact you to schedule a sperm test, the first step to becoming an approved donor.
For sperm donors, it's preferable to be between 18 and 45 years old.
